Parque Metropolitano Cerro Chena has reached 75% progress in its construction and is shaping up to become one of the new green lungs of southern Santiago. Its inauguration is scheduled for the first half of 2026.

The Cerro Chena Metropolitan Park, one of the most significant green area initiatives for the southern area of Santiago, already presents a 75% of progress in its works, as reported by the Santiago Metropolitan Regional Government after an on-site visit led by the governor Claudio Orrego.

The project, which to be inaugurated in the first half of 2026, is promoted and financed by the Government of Santiago with an investment of approximately $40.903 million. The park will occupy 55 hectares and will integrate high standard recreational and sports facilities, including two multi-pitches, a football pitch with synthetic grass, a sports building, cycle paths, a lagoon, picnic areas and viewpoints at the top of the hill..

During the visit, Orrego highlighted that the project “will have a remodelled sanctuary of the Virgin, a first class stadium, courts and meeting spaces” and that it is designed “for a community that deserves the best”.

In parallel, the implementation of the murals in the park is approximately 30%, with a projected completion date of March 2026.
