  • The emblematic competition Santiago in 100 Words celebrates its 25th anniversary with a special programme of free online literary workshops led by renowned national and international authors.

The initiative, which every year brings together thousands of people to portray life in the city of Santiago through short stories, will open up spaces for meeting and reflection on contemporary writing, keeping creativity and citizen participation at the core.

The series will begin on 12 March with the Argentinean writer and art critic María Gainza, who will give the talk “Black on white: how to write about art”.”, focusing on the crossovers between criticism, narrative and aesthetic experience.

Then, on 18 March, the Chilean writer and researcher will be taking part Ariel Richards, who will share his creative process in a conversation about the connections between writing, research and personal experience.

The programme will continue in April with the participation of the American author Siri Hustvedt, winner of the 2019 Princess of Asturias Award for Literature, and the Chilean author Alia Trabucco Zeran, winner of the Femina Award 2024 for her novel Clean.

In addition to these activities, the competition is keeping its annual call for entries open until 30 April, inviting everyone to submit up to five short stories via its official website. The workshops are free and open to the general public, with prior registration on its website. www.santiagoen100palabras.cl
